Global Knowledge Provides IT Training Scholarships to Exiting Military Personnel

Training leader joins other industry partners participating in the Obama Administration's IT Training and Certification Program, part of the Joining Forces initiative

CARY, N.C. - Global Knowledge, worldwide leader in IT and business skills training, today announced its participation in President Obama's IT Training and Certification Program, a broad IT industry partnership that will enable exiting military service members to obtain gap training and earn industry-recognized IT certifications required for high-demand IT jobs.

Introduced today at the White House Forum on Military Credentialing and Licensing, the program addresses a central issue often preventing exiting military from gaining employment in the private sector: Active military personnel typically do not have the industry-recognized certifications that validate the IT skills and expertise they gained in military service.

Focusing on high-demand, high-growth IT occupations, such as application development, network security, and IT project management, and tapping the experience gained by training more than 5,000 U.S. service members each year, Global Knowledge is providing a one-stop solution for exiting military service members to obtain the training and credentials they need to gain employment and succeed in the private sector.

"We are passionately committed to helping our exiting military personnel obtain the gap training and credentials they need to start rewarding careers in the private sector," said Chris Gosk, Vice President of Content and Learning Services at Global Knowledge. "At the end of the day, this program is about maximizing the employment and career opportunities for our military personnel, and we are honored to be part of it."

Once a participant is enrolled and accepted into the program, a Global Knowledge training advisor will assist in training needs analysis and enroll the participant in the proper training course. The training advisor will also follow up with each program participant to ensure he or she has obtained the proper industry-recognized credential that maps to one of the 12 high-demand IT careers identified in the program. Training is delivered in classrooms nationwide, live online in virtual classrooms, and in on-demand formats.

To enable program expansion and help fund the growth of training scholarships to support this program, Global Knowledge has teamed with other IT and business skills training and credentialing partners, including Cisco, CompTIA, GogoTraining, Microsoft, HDI, ASPE Training, Pearson VUE, and Prometric.
