Cisco has simplified the certification process. The associate-level CCNA and DevNet Associate certifications require you to pass a single exam and are supported by a single course.  Moving to the professional level, you can achieve a CCNP certification by passing two exams - the core exam and one concentration exam within the technology area.  

Pro-tip1:  Some DevNet specialization exams meet the requirements for both the Network Infrastructure and Software Development certifications.

Pro-tip2:  Passing the CCNP core exam meets the expert-level (CCIE) written exam requirement.  To achieve an expert-level (CCIE) certification, students need to take and pass the corresponding lab exam.
