PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)
With the PMI-PBA℠, a business analysis (BA) certification, the Project Management Institute (PMI®) has formalized the importance of BA work in the project management world. They built the PMI-PBA certification around specific areas, skills and published materials that describe the value of BA to projects.
PMI-PBA Eligibility Requirements
High School Diploma or Global Equivalent Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum BA Experience
- 7,500 hours within 8 consecutive years
- Project Experience*
- 2,000 hours on project teams
- BA Education
Bachelor's Degree or Global Equivalent

- 4,500 hours within 8 consecutive years
- Project Experience*
- 2,000 hours on project teams
- BA Education
*If you have a PMP or PgMP, you do not need to show any project team hours, because your credential covers the hour requirements. Also, you can overlap your BA experience requirement with your project experience requirement, if applicable.
Prerequisites
To qualify for PMI-PBA certification, you do not need to have the title "business analyst" but you must have real-world experience in BA.
