Cisco delivers new solutions to simplify operations across public and private clouds
- Date: 27 January, 2021
Cisco has announced a range of software-delivered solutions intended to simplify operations, including enhancements to its Intersight systems management platform and the addition of the new Nexus Dashboard.
The new features are aimed at centralising and consolidating Cisco’s tools and services across on-premise data centres and multi-cloud environments, and making them easier to use.
Specifically, the new solutions include:
- Additions to the Intersight platform, Cisco’s cloud-based management platform for Unified Computing System (UCS) and HyperFlex systems. In particular these are:
- The new Intersight Kubernetes Service that will help infrastructure teams in automating the lifecycle management of Kubernetes and containerised applications across hybrid environments
- New capabilities for the Intersight Workload Optimizer which will simplify application resources management. They will enable customers to balance application performance and cost by providing real-time, full-stack visibility and insights
- The integration of Intersight with AppDynamics, the application performance business that Cisco acquired three years ago. This will provide users with improved visibility across infrastructure and applications
- The Nexus Dashboard, which is a consolidated platform that will manage multi-cloud data centre networks, on either on-premise, virtual edge or cloud sites
- The Identity Services Engine (ISE) that aims to simplify secure network access across all domains, extending the zero-trust workplace to anywhere and on anything. Customers can use ISE to identify the IoT endpoints and enforce consistent policies
Todd Nightingale, SVP and GM of Cisco Enterprise Networking and Cloud, explained that Cisco was “… announcing IT platforms for multi-cloud operations that provide advanced insights and automation to help organisations transform faster.” He added, “For IT to be as agile as their businesses require, they need solutions obsessed with simplicity”.
