AWS reveals new version of Advanced Networking – Specialty exam
- Date: 18 February, 2022
AWS has launched an updated version of its AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty exam as demand for skilled networking engineers continues to rise, with plans to make the new version available and retire the current version in July 2022.
As organisations of all sizes increasingly move to cloud-based infrastructures, the demand for networking engineers with the mix of skills required to handle the networking aspects in AWS and hybrid deployments has never been greater.
In order to address this demand and also take account of the wide range of networking innovations that are continually emerging, AWS has made updates to the AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty exam. Importantly, the new version includes updated content that supports complex networking scenarios, including global and hybrid networks, network security, operational efficiency and governance.
In terms of suitability, you will be expected to possess the knowledge, skills, experience and competence required to design, implement and operate complex AWS and hybrid networking architectures. You should have five or more years of networking experience, with two or more years of cloud and hybrid networking experience.
The exam itself will validate your ability to perform the following tasks:
- Design and develop hybrid and cloud-based networking solutions by using AWS
- Implement core AWS networking services according to AWS best practices
- Operate and maintain hybrid and cloud-based network architecture for all AWS services
- Use tools to deploy and automate hybrid and cloud-based AWS networking tasks
- Implement secure AWS networks using AWS native networking constructs and services
These tasks are addressed within the four main content domains for the exam, with their respective weightings being as follows:
- Domain 1: Network Design 30%
- Domain 2: Network Implementation 26%
- Domain 3: Network Management and Operation 20%
- Domain 4: Network Security, Compliance, and Governance 24%
The exam itself will be based upon two types of questions, Multiple choice, where there is one correct response and three incorrect responses (distractors), and multiple response where there are two or more correct responses out of five or more response options.
If you are interested in taking things forward, the updated exam will be in beta from February 22nd to April 4th 2022. The plan is then to make the new standard version available and retire the current version in July 2022.
