AWS Certification Update
- Date: 09 June, 2020
There’s been a host of new developments on the AWS certification front, including two new courses and important re-branding of an existing qualification.
AWS Certified Database - Specialty certification
This new certification is AWS’ first to focus specifically on expertise with database technology. It’s in response to growing demand from AWS customers for a new skill set aimed at designing and recommending appropriate AWS database solutions for specific workloads.
This credential helps organisations to identify and develop talent, so they can innovate faster with the portfolio of AWS databases.
Focusing on implementing the optimal AWS database solution for unique use cases, the AWS Certified Database - Specialty exam covers a range of comprehensive database concepts. These include design, migration, deployment, access, maintenance, automation, monitoring, security and troubleshooting.
The course itself is intended for a range of professionals including data platform engineers, database developers and solutions architects.
The prerequisite knowledge and experience reflects the range of skills covered by the certification. This includes at least five years of experience with database technologies, together with experience and expertise working with on-premises and AWS cloud-based relational and non-relational databases.
AWS Security Essentials
This is a new one-day, instructor-led classroom course intended for IT business-level professionals interested in cloud security practices, or anyone with a basic working knowledge of AWS who wants to know more about data security in the AWS cloud.
The course contains information on AWS access control, data encryption methods, securing AWS infrastructure and the AWS shared responsibility model.
This fundamental-level course is part of the AWS Training and Certification Security learning path.
AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty
This course is a new version of the existing AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty exam, incorporating an updated exam version. The name change is a result of AWS recognising that the term data analytics more closely aligns with language used by their customers.
The AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty certification will validate your ability to design, build, secure and maintain analytics solutions on AWS that are efficient, cost effective and secure.
As part of this, it will provide an understanding of AWS data analytics services and how they integrate with each other. It will also address how AWS data analytics services fit in the data lifecycle of collection, storage, processing and visualisation.
The recommended prerequisites for this course include at least five years of experience with data analytics technologies, together with at least two years of hands-on experience working with AWS.
The AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty exam is now available, whilst the previous AWS Certified Big Data - Specialty exam will only be available up until the 1st of July 2020, last day available to take this version of the exam.
It’s important to know that have a wide range of AWS courses available online from our Virtual Classroom Live, meaning you can attend them virtually even if you’re unable to get access to a traditional classroom.
