VMware Certified Professional 5 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV)

As businesses demand more IT professionals with data center virtualization skills, you can distinguish yourself and validate your technical capabilities by earning the VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) certification.

To earn the industry-recognized VCP-DCV certification, you need hands-on experience with VMware components, and you must complete VMware-authorized training. Achieving VCP-DCV certification shows that you have the necessary education to successfully install, deploy, scale and manage VMware vSphere environments and that you have at least six months of experience with VMware infrastructure technologies.

There are three paths to VCP5-DCV certification based on your background. Choose your path and complete the core validation components.

You're just starting with network virtualization technologies:

  1. Attend one of the following required qualifying courses:
  2. Gain hands-on experience with VMware vSphere
  3. Pass the VCP-DCV exam.

You have any valid VCP-level certification:

  1. Attend VMware vSphere: What's New [V4.x to V5.5] (Recommended)
  2. Pass the VCP-DCV exam.

You have completed a VCP4-DCV qualifying course, but you are not VCP4-DCV certified:

  1. Attend VMware vSphere: What's New [V4.x to V5.5] (Required)
  2. Pass the VCP-DCV exam.

Required Exams

Two versions of the VCP5-DCV exam are now available. Passing either exam will earn the VCP5-DCV certification provided you have also attended a qualifying course.

The new exam (VCP550) is based on vSphere v5.5, while the other exam (VCP510) is based on vSphere 5.0/5.1.
