Cisco enhances Webex security options

Cisco is recognised as the World’s largest cybersecurity organisation and it has once again been recognised by Gartner as a Leader in the 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Meeting Solutions.

It should not come as a surprise to anyone that Cisco has leveraged their security expertise within their market leading meeting solutions, with the announcement of a new Webex Control Hub Extended Security Pack that enables users to protect their data from accidental misuse and malicious attacks without compromising the overall user experience.

Webex is a cloud-based solution that provides a range of core collaboration capabilities, including video conferencing, online meetings, screen sharing and webinars. Naturally, security is critical for any collaboration deployment because employees inevitably share sensitive data and intellectual property. As a consequence, business managers and IT administrators have become increasingly concerned about data loss, especially when their users are collaborating externally.

The Cisco Webex Control Hub Extended Security Pack addresses these concerns by packaging the full functionality of Cloudlock for Webex Teams together with native Webex anti-malware capabilities powered by Talos ClamAV in Webex Cloud.

The pack was designed with cross-company collaboration particularly in mind – with Cloudlock cloud access security broker (CASB) supporting data loss prevention (DLP) policies that protect users even when they collaborate with external users.

The pack is also integrated with ClamAV anti-malware capabilities from Cisco’s Talos unit, deployed on Webex Cloud. This solution protects against Trojans, ransomware and other malicious attacks – even when users are on personal or unmanaged devices, or are collaborating with external users who may introduce files.

The best part? Getting all this added security is really easy, as customers can now purchase this vertically-integrated security stack as part of their Webex subscription and it’s easy (and quick!) to deploy.
