Business Development Manager

Overview of Job Role

To generate profitable new business opportunities and revenue from a defined set of accountsthrough effective customer engagement. Work with customers and vendors to gain optimal revenue and profitability. To achieve or exceed yearly targets set by the business.

Key Objectives

  • To exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets with profitable business.
  • To develop strong relationships at all levels within the client base.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts, account plans and opportunity profiles on the CRM system.
  • Display solid market and competitor awareness.
  • Produce first draft level proposals and bid responses using resources and management support available.
  • Confidently present a company value proposition to the clients.
  • Consistently finding new opportunities and engaging with new contacts.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Build profitable revenue opportunities with existing / new clients ensuring the GK value is articulated appropriately.
  • Display a fully qualified understanding of the client need.
  • Understand the contract review and tender timetable process within your target client base.
  • Produce and submit high quality proposals and bid responses using resources available from departments within GK.
  • Work with GK colleagues in local countries where necessary to develop and transpose relationships into the UK.
  • Understand the decision-making criteria for client negotiations.
  • Produce comprehensive account plans for named accounts, developing account strategies and execute through to generating major revenues.
  • Work with the leading vendors, forming joint relationships with the customer.
  • Schedule and attend no less than 12 customer meetings per month, ensuring all key accounts are visited at least once a quarter.
  • Ensure all clients are aligned to Parent companies, agreed pricing is accurate and maintained, opportunity, customer profiles and marketing campaigns managed.
  • Build and maintain Business Plan, KARE and respective Account Plans.
  • Work with other departments to ensure customer success.
  • Continuous education on GK portfolio and internal systems and anything related to performing the role in the effective manner.

  • Strong forecasting and pipeline management skills.
  • Target and opportunity focused.
  • Passionate customer focused attitude.
  • Proven success of working to and delivering against targets (KPI and/or revenue).
  • Displays resilience, passion and ambition.
  • Understand and communicate value versus cost and benefit versus feature.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and negotiation skills.
  • Events lead generation.
  • Experience with inputting to or, delivering presentations.
  • Keen to learn and take responsibility for own development with management direction.
  • New business driven.
