Cisco Expert-Level Certifications

The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert Level Certification was introduced to assist the industry in distinguishing the top echelon of design and internetworking experts worldwide. Its purpose since then has not changed, although it no longer focuses on just Routing and Switching, there are now six different CCIE technology paths and one Expert level Design (CCDE) certification. Cisco have also announced a Cisco Certified DevNet Expert Certification although the release date is yet to be announced.

Cisco CCIE Certification holders represent less than 3% of all certified Cisco professionals and less than 1% of the networking professionals worldwide, making those that hold a CCIE Certification badge an elite band of IT professionals highly sought after in an ever-changing technical world.

Maintaining an active CCIE or CCDE status shows your commitment to maintaining you Expert-level of knowledge in technologies that are continually evolving. The Cisco Continuing Education Program encourages CCIE's to expand their knowledge into new technology areas ensuring their skills remain relevant for today’s networks.

The newly updated Expert-Level program no longer requires a written exam instead you will need to complete the Core Technology exam for the Expert-Level Technology you are looking to achieve as well as the lab exam.
