Cisco has launched the Next Level certification program. Get familiar with the ins and outs of the new certification program in this series of articles by Global Knowledge. In this article: What is Cisco's new recertification policy?

Starting February 24th, all Cisco certifications are valid for three years. Before the new certification program went into effect, the Specialist and Cisco Certified Interwork Expert certifications were only valid for two years - but the validation of these certifications has also been extended to three years.

How do I get recertified?

Cisco has three options for recertification. Once your certification expires, you can pick one of these options. If you don't do this, you won't be able to get recertified. These are your options:
  • First of all, you can decide to retake the exam. Once you pass the exam, your certification will be renewed for three years

  • You can also decide to get recertified by using Cisco Continuing Education credits. You'll receive these credits when you follow a Cisco training course or take an exam. You have to earn the Continuing Education within three years time to renew your certification. You need a certain amount of credits to renew your certification - it varies per certification. You can read more about the Continuing Education program on this Cisco webpage.

  • You can also decide to get recertified on a higher level.

Which option suits my situation?

Of course you want to know which option is best for your individual situation but also which steps you have to take for recertification. Find out which steps you have to take in the Global Knowledge recertification schedule. Find the schedule via the button below.
