Global Knowledge
  • Date: 12 October, 2023

Microsoft UK’s Get On initiative, launched in 2020, aims to empower 1.5 million people in the UK with tech skills and careers by 2025. Already, it has provided digital training to over 1.1 million individuals and enabled more than 30K people to find tech jobs, creating business opportunities and social benefits.

AI skills, an integral part of Get On, are now at the forefront of technological advancement. The emergence of Large Language Models (LLMs) are enabling new use cases that weren't possible a few years ago, including applications based on high-quality generative AI. As organizations harness these technologies, they’re positioned to experience a second wave of AI-powered transformation. With AI disrupting every industry and every business, proficiency in AI becomes pivotal to maximize its benefits.

Microsoft envisions that AI will radically transform the jobs of the future. Committed to inclusivity, they are committed to making technology education, skills, tools and jobs accessible to all, fostering individual, organizational, and national  growth in this decade and beyond.

Recognizing the AI revolution, Microsoft plans to realign the Get On Campaign  with a focus on AI. Their expanded goal is to equip 1 million people with AI skills by 2025, ensuring that individuals can take full advantage of this technological wave. This includes nurturing the technical skills required to build with AI and the  know-how to leverage AI  for business acceleration and economic growth in the UK.

“Skillsoft has been a partner of Microsoft’s Get On Campaign since its inception, and we are proud to help enable the program’s expanded focus on AI. Organizations and learners are hungry for AI-related education, and our immersive curriculum will ensure everyone can build the knowledge, skillset, and confidence required to harness the potential of this transformative technology,” said Jim Gruskin, General Manager, Instructor-Led Training, Skillsoft. “Together, we are creating a future where everyone can thrive in the digital era, fostering innovation and driving change that fuels business and economic growth, as well as the employability of the UK workforce.”

Simon Lambert, Chief Learning Officer, Microsoft UK: “We are thrilled that Skillsoft Global Knowledge is supporting Microsoft in the expansion of its Get On programme to include AI skills. Leveraging its diverse range of resources for developing technology, leadership, and risk management skills essential for the productive and responsible use of AI, Skillsoft Global Knowledge is well-positioned to support us in helping one million people gain the skills needed to thrive in the AI-driven economy."
