CISAs are required by ISACA to earn 120 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours per three-year
certification period, with a minimum of 20 hours each year.
There are several ways for CISAs to earn CPE hours. One option is to participate in non-ISACA education
activities, like in-house corporate training, seminars and courses.
Your educational activity must relate to at least one of the six job practice domains as established by the
CISA certification material. Please visit www.isaca.org/cisajobpractice for full descriptions of each domain.
- IS Audit Practice
- IT Governance Systems and Infrastructure
- Lifecycle Management
- IT Service Delivery and Support
- Production of Information Assets
- Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
Calculating CPE Hours
One CPE hour is earned for each 50 minutes of active participation in the educational activity. Time for
lunches and breaks does not count toward the 50 minutes. CPE hours are only accepted in full-hour increments,
and calculations must be rounded down.
Submitting Your CPEs
If you are taking a Global Knowledge course to satisfy your CPE requirements, you should have two documents
for your records.
- You will need a copy of the Certificate of Completion you receive at the end of your course. You can
download your certificate by logging in to your MyGK account.
- Because this certificate does not state the number of CPE hours earned, you must also contact your Global
Knowledge training advisor at 800-268-7737 to request a Verification of Attendance form.
For assistance or to request a Verification of Attendance form, please contact your training advisor at 866-
For detailed questions about earning or redeeming your CPE hours or to find out which Global Knowledge courses
satisfy your CPE requirements, please refer to the CISA Continuing Education Policy.
