VMware Simplifies Their Training Portfolio

Jan. 11, 2024
Global Knowledge

In November of last year, Broadcom completed the acquisition of virtualization and cloud computing specialist VMware. Following the acquisition, VMware is now divided into four distinct divisions: VMware Cloud Foundation, Software-Defined Edge Application, Networking and Security, and a dedicated entity for the Tanzu offering, specifically for Kubernetes environments.

To address customer and partner feedback regarding the complexity of their offerings, VMware is streamlining its portfolio. The VMware Cloud Foundation division will feature two primary offerings: VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware vSphere Foundation. Existing customers with current licenses will retain access to respective VMware products, while this option will no longer be available to new customers.

Implications for VMware training:

  • ILT (Instructor-Led Training) portfolio reduction: Starting February 1, 2024, the ILT portfolio will be reduced from 90 courses to approximately 44 courses. Please refer to the list of remaining courses effective from March 1 here.
  • Changes to On-Demand courses and Premium Learning Subscriptions: From February 16, 2024, VMware On-Demand courses and VMware Premium Learning Subscriptions will no longer be available for purchase. Users can start an On-Demand course until February 29, 2024. Existing Premium Learning subscribers will maintain access until their subscription expires.

If you still wish to purchase a VMware On Demand course or Premium Learning Subscription, we advise you to inform us before February 16, 2024, as this will be the last day for us to place these orders with VMware.
