IT professionals share factors impacting earnings, job satisfaction and career advancement

We launched our 11th annual IT Skills and Salary Survey today and it's open for responses through December 30, 2017.

The international survey, one of the most comprehensive of its kind in the industry, addresses subjects relevant to IT and business professionals including salaries for key certifications, emerging trends and factors impacting job satisfaction and compensation.

The 2018 IT Skills and Salary Survey is designed to collect, aggregate, analyze and share the salaries of IT and business professionals and the key reasons for year-over-year change. Professionals from all areas of business and IT are invited to take part in this important research between October 10 and December 30, 2017.

The survey takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Participants can choose to receive a copy of the final report, and Canadian participants have the option to be entered into a drawing to win one of five $200 Amazon.ca Gift Cards.

Key findings from last year's IT salary survey included:

• Sixty-eight percent of IT decision-makers say their teams face a shortage of necessary skills compared to 31 percent the prior year
• Cybersecurity jobs are in the highest demand and pay the best, yet managers can’t find qualified candidates.
• Top reasons behind skill gaps are lack of training investment, difficulty attracting top candidates and difficulty paying what candidates demand.
