5 reasons to love what you do!

You’re not into IT for no reason. Maybe you were already fixing computers as a child? Or perhaps your ethical hacking career began with exposing your high school’s security gaps? Or perhaps you’ve discovered the amazing world of IT at a later age? Whenever you got into IT doesn’t matter, because you love what you do. These are five reasons why!

1)     The IT world of today is diverse. While some might think that “computers are all the same”, the digital world has changed so much based on new technologies that there are many different roles and specialisations. If you’re feeling a bit bored with one role, you can switch to another and do something completely different. Luckily, the fundamentals of IT remain largely the same, so your knowledge is never wasted.

2)     To build on reason one, the IT world is also developing quickly. Some might find this daunting, but it’s actually beneficial. The digital world is expanding and improving, which means that you won’t be doing the same job ten or twenty years from now. New technologies will make way for new opportunities and in turn, new roles. You won’t feel stuck in the same job, because it’ll be different in the future. Isn’t that exciting?

3)     Another reason to love IT is that you won’t be without work. There is a huge demand for IT professionals, not just at IT-firms. Other organizations are also hiring their own IT teams. That means you can get a job anywhere. Wouldn’t it be fun to say that you worked at the government, videogame company ánd a non-profit? Not only is that interesting, but the job guarantee comes with a peace of mind.

4)     You can always find a new challenge in the world of IT. It’s fun, interesting and sometimes even thrilling. There’s always a new puzzle to solve or a new solution to build. You won’t get  bored easily. Though you might get frustrated from time to time, you won’t forget that rush when you finally solve an issue. That’s always a nice confidence boost.

5)     As mentioned earlier, IT is changing fast. That means that you’ll always be learning new things about the latest developments. The more often you set aside time to study, the easier it gets. You keep your brain fit by training this organ with daily (or weekly) practice. Learning is also motivating – how often do you want to try out things you’ve just learned? On top of that, if you love what you do, then it’s only natural you’d love to learn more about it.
