TRAINING AT YOUR LOCATION

We will soon provide training at your location. In order to have the training run as smoothly as possible, we would like to request that you arrange a number of practical issues in advance. These practical issues are important in order to provide the participants in the training with the best possible learning experience.

REQUIREMENTS REGARDING THE FACILITIES

  • Parking space for the trainer. Please provide in advance the directions and instructions regarding registration upon arrival.
  • Preferably a training room will be allotted and available for the duration of the training.
  • The training room has direct daylight and the areas for the trainer and participants consist of a table/chair, whiteboard and presentation facilities such as, for example, a projector.
  • The room is equipped with a video projector and whiteboard. The video projector has at least one VGA (Video Graphics Array) connection and connections for the trainer’s laptop. If a smart board is present, then please also provide a manual and software for the smart board. A TV is only suitable when there are small groups and when the training participants sit near the screen.

NON-TECHNICAL TRAINING

  • A laptop is sometimes required for non-technical training due to digital training material.
  • The preferred layout of the training room is a flexible U-shaped form.

TECHNICAL TRAINING

  • The preferred layout of the training room for technical training is a schoolroom setup.
  • A workspace with a table area of at least 90 x 90 cm is available for each participant and is equipped with an extra electricity outlet for each participant’s laptop.
  • Each participant and the trainer is equipped with their own desktop computer with at least a 19 inch screen. A laptop can sometimes suffice depending on the training course. The desktop computer has a network connection and access to internet. Administrator rights are required on this desktop computer in technical training courses.
  • When a training course uses remote labs, a network connection with a bandwidth of at least 10 MB (Symmetrical up/down) is required, with the desktop computers using a cabled network (therefore no Wi-Fi).
  • Most of the technical training courses use digital training material and internet. In order to make optimal use of these items, each training space must be equipped with at least a second 19 inch screen or an extra-wide screen. Alternatively, a second device (tablet/laptop) can possibly be used for the digital training material. Make sure that the screen is sufficiently large enough in order to be able to read training material in A4 format.

MICROSOFT TRAINING

Most of the Microsoft training courses use remote labs.

  • An Active-X control is loaded on the desktop computers in order to access the lab environment. The participants will have to have the rights to load this control(we request this when using your own computers inorder to verify).
  • HTTP as well as HTTPS will be used on ports 80and 443 in order to access the lab environment. Theaddress of these labs may not be blocked by thefirewall.
  • The connection must be tested in advance via thefollowing script:

    1. Connect to Internet Explorer (32 bit, minimum V7.2)

VMWARE TRAINING

The VMware training courses use remote labs that can come from different providers. Most of the lab providers have the following requirements:

  • Each participant must be able to use RDP6. For thispurpose, the firewall is open on the ports 1494 and3389. In addition, the ports 80 and 443 are open to thelab location.
  • The remote site is “trusted” and the security setting inthe browser to the remote site is on “LOW”.
  • The network connection and connectivity have beentested in advance. For this purpose, open a session to http://rlsupport.globalknowledge.net/portal/welcome.html

CITRIX, AWS AND EC-COUNCIL TRAINING

We use remote labs in these training courses. For this purpose, the participants in the training course require a Windows PC with remote desktop options and internet access. The firewall is open for RDP, http and HTTPS.

IBM TRAINING

Depending on the course, remote labs are also used in the IBM training courses. For this purpose, the following requirements are applicable:

  • The desktop computer is preferably equipped inadvance with a Citrix client.
  • The network connection and connectivity have beentested in advance. For this purpose, open a session to

CISCO TRAINING

Remote labs are always used in Cisco training courses. This will result in different requirements.

  • The lab environment is not accessed in the same wayfor all training courses. There can be differences foreach training course: Telnet, RDP, Putty, HTTP/HTTPSand sometimes even via a VPN connection. For theseprotocols, the ports on the location’s firewall are open:
    - TCP Ports 23 (Telnet), 2033-2096(Reverse Telnet ), 80 (http), 443 (https) and 3389(RDP)
    - UDP Ports 6502 (Netop Remote Control), 500 (IKE)and 4500 (NAT Traversal).
  • The training participant’s desktop computer and thenetwork connection can be tested via the followingscript:

    Without logging in further in the opened screen, itcan be determined via the test button whether theworkstation has been properly configured for theCisco labs.
