This course is Continuity Shop’s enhanced version of the Business Continuity Institute’s (BCI’s) Certification Training Course, which teaches you the methods, techniques and approaches used by business continuity professionals worldwide to develop, implement and maintain an effective Business Continuity Management (BCM) programme, and prepares you to take the BCI’s CBCI examination.

Continuity Shop was the first company to run BCI Certification courses, and has been doing so successfully for over ten years. This is a new version of the course to align with GPG 2018.

This enhanced version provides delegates with the opportunity to put the theory into practice through the use of case studies, and to practice answering the type of questions used in the CBCI examination, including taking two mock examinations. These are only available to delegates who undertake the course with Continuity Shop.

The course is split into 6 modules, which are designed both to provide a thorough revision of BC best practice, and also to prepare delegates to sit the BCI Certificate exam. The BCI board have now approved the withdrawal of the requirement for MBCI applicants to have achieved a ‘pass with merit’ grade in the exam. Anybody who passes the CBCI exam will be able to apply directly for MBCI status, if they have at least 3 years experience across the 6 professional practice areas.

The ’pass with merit’ will still be achievable in its current form and successful candidates will still receive certificates showing this. The only change is that this is no longer required for an MBCI application.

Virtual Learning

This interactive training can be taken from any location, your office or home and is delivered by a trainer. This training does not have any delegates in the class with the instructor, since all delegates are virtually connected. Virtual delegates do not travel to this course, Global Knowledge will send you all the information needed before the start of the course and you can test the logins.

Exam Information

The CBCI Examination consists of 120 multiple choice questions. The exam is 2 hours long. A score of 70 is required to pass, and a score of 85 or above is a pass with Merit.

Upon achieving a ‘Pass’ or ‘Pass with Merit’ grade, the CBCI certification is valid for three years from the exam date and holders may use the post nominal CBCI.

Once you are CBCI certified, you may be eligible to apply for AMBCI (Associate Member of The BCI) or MBCI (Member of The BCI). Your eligibility to apply would be based upon your work experience as a Business Continuity practitioner.

Classroom Courses

The exam is usually taken on the afternoon of the fifth day of the course, following revision in the morning. It starts at approximately 13.00. You may also take the exam online via the BCI at a later date. The paper exam is currently available in English; other languages will be made available by the BCI soon. The exam is graded and your results emailed 4-6 weeks after completion. A pass is valid for three years.

Remote Courses

For remote courses, the exam is taken online directly with the BCI. Instructions for booking your exam will be sent to you by the BCI. You may then book any available exam slot at a time suitable for you.
