VMware Recertification

Recertify with VMware without setting for an exam

VMware launched the new certification annual versioning on Jan 2019, where it was a big shift from the previous certification where it used to be aligned to major product releases (for example, VCP6.5 is now VCP 2019). With the year designator on every certification, it becomes clearer when you earned a certification and how current your expertise is within that certification track. The certification you earn depends on when you complete the requirements. If you meet all the requirements in 2019, you’ll earn the 2019 certification. If you finish it in 2020, you’ll earn the 2020 certification, and so on.

As of February 5, 2019, VMware certifications do not have a mandatory recertification requirement. With dropping the two years VCP recertification policy, the following expired certifications are now reinstated:

  • Data Center Virtualization: VCP5-DCV, VCP6-DCV
  • Network Virtualization: VCP-NV,VCP6-NV
  • Cloud : VCP-Cloud, VCP6-CMA, VCM7-CMA
  • Desktop & Mobility: VCP6-DTM, VCP7-DTM

However, recertification is widely recognized in the IT industry and beyond as an important element of continuing professional growth. If your skills are not current, your certification loses value. Staying current on your certifications enhances your credibility and demonstrates a commitment to your career, your employer, and your customers. Recertifying by upgrading your certifications or earning a higher-level certification will keep your expertise up-to-date and further enhance your ability to provide the highest quality results.

To help further streamline and allow you to stay current, we are now adding training options as an upgrade path for those recertifying to the next version – no exam required.
