EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST, AND AFRICA (BST) AGENDA

BST Thursday September 23rd, 2021

10:00 AM - 10:20 AM KEYNOTE: FROM SKILLS GAP TO SKILLS REVOLUTION: TRANSFORMING TODAY’S WORKFORCE FOR TOMORROW’S ECONOMY

The nature of work — and consequently, the nature of the workforce — has evolved at a rapid pace in recent years. The next normal will arrive fast on the heels of the new normal, meaning today’s skills gap will soon be a skills crisis. The reality is: intervention is not enough. What’s called for is a skills transformation. Join Jeff Tarr, CEO of Skillsoft, as he speaks with three customers to learn how they’re creating their future-fit workforce.

Speaker:
Jeff Tarr, CEO, Skillsoft

10:20 AM - 11:00 AM KEYNOTE: WHAT CAN YOU DO IN A “TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT” JOB MARKET?

In light of “The Great Resignation,” where millions of employees are considering quitting their jobs, it’s getting harder and harder to hire and retain people. Some are looking for career changes; others are interested in just “taking a break” from current jobs. What’s going on? Skillsoft has invited Josh Bersin, global research analyst and CEO of The Josh Bersin Company, to give us some answers and explain why reinventing the employee experience is so important. He’ll bring to the discussion recent research on post-pandemic talent practices, the six principles that should guide decisions related to improving employee experiences, and some of the innovative approaches companies are taking to attract new talent and navigate the complexities of hybrid work.

Speaker:
Josh Bersin, global research analyst and CEO of The Josh Bersin Company

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM CHALLENGE ACCEPTED: EMERGING PRINCIPLES IN LEARNING DESIGN

The latest neuroscience research reveals powerful (and sometimes counterintuitive) methods to improve the quality of learning experiences. With a new understanding of how people learn — especially in workplace settings — “challenge-based learning” is emerging as an innovative alternative. Join this session to gain six key principles, all grounded in solving problems from real-life tasks, that are shaping this exciting new design approach.

Speaker:
Frank Gartland, Chief Product Officer, Learn On Demand Systems

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM INJECTING DEI INTO THE DAILY FABRIC OF CORPORATE CULTURE

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) isn’t an isolated point-in-time activity or a cure for bias and discrimination. It must be woven throughout your organization’s ecosystem. That’s why it’s so critical to embrace DEI training as a long-term commitment to — and investment in — meaningful developmental journeys for individuals, leaders, and the entire organization. In this course, you’ll learn how to weave DEI learning (in all its many diverse forms) into the daily fabric of corporate culture.

Speaker:
Elisa Vincent, Vice President of Global Talent Enablement, Skillsoft

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM SUPERFORECASTING FOR CAREERS IN TECHNOLOGY

Superforecasting, a term popularized in the book of the same name, is all about using judgment and the right mindset to make uncannily accurate predictions. Professionals in the technology sector need to do this even as technology keeps moving forward inexorably, and as the economic climate remains remarkably uncertain. This implies that there is a real need for every technology professional to anticipate where big trends are headed. For instance, which programming language is worth specializing in with an eye on the next decade? How could the Agile methodology and DevOps help mitigate business risks? Are the headline-grabbing technologies in AI and Blockchain worth betting your professional future on? This session focuses on a framework within which tech professionals can navigate the uncertainty and make the right choice for the future.

Speaker:
Janani Ravi, Co-Founder, Loonycorn

11:30 AM - 12:00 PM PROTECT YOUR FUTURE: THE FUNDAMENTALS OF CYBERSECURITY

In today’s digital era, information is the new power source. However, for decision-makers and leaders across the globe, protecting the organization’s information from abuse, misuse, or unauthorized access can be challenging. New security threats emerge every day and you need to be armed with the right skills to make well-informed decisions. In this session, you’ll explore what’s happening in cybersecurity and learn best practices to protect yourself, your employees, and your future.

11:30 AM - 12:00 PM 7 SINS OF CLOUD SECURITY

The cloud offers near-instant scale and numerous security features that organizations can leverage; however, it’s not that way by default. Despite wide adoption of cloud services, many organizations remain unprepared and unknowingly expand their attack surface. Gartner predicts that by 2025, 99% of cloud security issues will be the customer’s fault.

Speaker:
Ed Adams, CEO, Security Innovation

While compliance can seem to be a costly annoyance, companies that embrace compliance as a key component of their culture and integrate it into their business systems and objectives outperform those who take a “check the box” approach. The reality is, the less effort put into compliance, the less companies get out of it. Join this session to learn how some of the leading organizations are delivering compliance courses to their employees to embrace a compliance culture within their business.

Bobby Quinten, Director, Training and Development, ICF Professional Certified Coach, Greyhound
Eric Morehead, Principal Consultant, Morehead Compliance Consulting
