2011 PMP® Exam Changes
About the Changes
The PMP certification exam received an update on August 31, 2011. Approximately 30% of the content was changed from the current version in response to data collected by the Project Management Institute in their Role Delineation Study (RDS).
The changes will ensure the PMP certification exam reflects current demands of the project management profession and indicates what is relevant to the work of project managers. Among the major changes is the testing of the Professional and Social Responsibility concept across all content areas instead of residing in a separate section of the exam. This emphasizes the application of the PMI's Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct in each phase of the project lifecycle.
How the Update Affects You
The exam changes are not an update to the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge-Fourth Edition (PMBOK® Guide), and the eligibility criteria for taking the exam are the same.
