Cisco announces new Certified DevNet Expert certification

Cisco’s new Certified DevNet Expert certification validates the candidate’s skills in the planning, design, development and maintenance of complex automation-driven network environments.
When Cisco first announced the new DevNet programme back in 2019, the intention was to provide a brand-new set of certifications that focused on a software-first approach to Cisco’s products and technologies. This included an Associate-level certification, various Specialist-level certifications, and a Professional-level certification. However, one thing was missing - an Expert-level certification.
This has now been remedied with the announcement of Cisco Certified DevNet Expert. As the highest certification in the DevNet family, it validates expert-level NetDevOps skills.
To earn the DevNet Expert certification, you must pass two exams: the qualifying 350-901 DEVCOR written exam and a hands-on lab exam.
The 120 minute written exam focuses on the following topic domains:
- Software development, deployment and design
- Infrastructure as code
- Containers
- Network programmability and automation
- Security
Meanwhile, the eight hour lab exam poses a real challenge, requiring you to plan, design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software solutions within complex automation-driven network environments.
You will have to wait until the 2nd of May 2022 to take the lab exam, however the exam topics are available now.
Whilst there are no formal prerequisites for the Certified DevNet Expert certification, it is recommended that candidates have five to seven years of experience in designing, deploying, operating and optimising NetDevOps technologies and solutions.
