Microsoft launches brand new security training courses

Microsoft is launching new security training courses at the end of April. Read this article to find out which are those training courses and what they entail.

Microsoft Learn has introduced a security learning path in addition to the existing ones under Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Dynamics. You can follow the corresponding training courses at Global Knowledge from end of April 2021.

The security learning path, just like other Microsoft learning paths, starts with a Fundamentals training and certification.

Discover the new Microsoft security courses

Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (M-SC900)

Duration: 1 day

During this one-day Fundamentals training, you’ll become acquainted with security solutions on Microsoft Azure. Learn about Zero-Trust, Microsoft’s security and compliance principles, Service Trust Portal, and about identity management on Azure AD.

After the training, you can take the Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900) exam.

After you have completed the Fundamentals training, you can enhance your knowledge with three new follow-up training courses and certifications described below.

Microsoft Information Protection Administrator (M-SC400)

Duration: 2 days

The Microsoft Information Protection Administrator certification is intended for administrators who translate compliance controls into technical implementation. During the training you will learn—among other things—how to define application requirements, test and develop policies for content classification, data loss, governance and protection.

Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (M-SC300)

Duration: 4 days

The Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (M-SC300) training and certification is suitable for administrators who manage (or want to manage) their organization's identity and access management system using Azure AD. During this training you’ll learn how to manage and troubleshoot the environment, configure authentication, and grant authorization.

Microsoft Security Operations Analyst (M-SC200)

Duration: 4 days

As a Security Operations Analyst, you work together with stakeholders to protect the IT systems of your organization. You reduce risks by acting quickly when an attack occurs, propose improvements, and inform the stakeholders of violations of organizational policy.

What about the exams?

The exams of the new security training courses are already available in beta. Learn about the beta exams on this Microsoft Learn page. The corresponding training courses will be available by the end of April. Around the same time, the first training courses will also take place at Global Knowledge.

Will the existing Microsoft security training and certifications be replaced?

The new trainings and certifications are an addition to the existing ones under Microsoft 365 (M-MS500, Microsoft 365 Security Administrator) and Microsoft Azure (M-AZ500, Microsoft Azure Security Administrator). They’ll continue to exist along with the new ones.
