pmpweek02Your project is over budget, behind schedule, and has a constrained project finish date. What is the best Estimate at Completion (EAC) formula to use?

A. EAC = BAC ÷ CPI
B. EAC = BAC ÷ SPI
C. EAC = AC + [ (BAC – EV) ÷ (CPI x SPI) ]
D. EAC = ETC ÷ (CPI x SPI)

Reveal Answer

The correct answer is C.

This formula takes into account cost to date and reflects the effect of the constrained project finish date. Answer A is a good formula for a  project without the budget and schedule problems presented in the scenario. Answers B and D are not formulas.
