Trainingsbeschrijving

In this three-day IREB CPRE Advanced: Elicitation & Consolidation training you will learn about Requirements Engineering from both theoretical and practical perspective. Exercises and forming opinion are an important part in this course. During the course you will practice test exams. It is recommended to prepare for the exam by studying the curriculum in the evenings.

The certification is made up of two parts and is optional and not included in the courseprice: The written exam, which forms the first part takes place at the end of the third day (in case of a virtual classroom training, the exam will be planned on another day). The lecturer will be available during the exam for the students who do not participate in the examination, to answer their questions or to elaborate on the course content. The second part of the certification relates to the application of the learned material by means of a practical assignment. This is not part of the course and is conducted by an independent examiner.

In the Elicitation module, candidates acquire in-depth skills to effectively and efficiently elicit requirements and handle requirements conflicts. Techniques from the Foundation level are elaborated in detail and further techniques are added. A key topic in the module is the ability to apply the right technique in the right context.

Framework for Structuring and Managing Requirements Elicitation and Conflict Resolution: A systematic approach for planning elicitation and conflict resolution as the basis for any elicitation effort is introduced. The concept of process patterns is presented as a way to describe different contexts where requirements elicitation is applied.

Requirements Sources for Elicitation: How can requirements sources be identified as completely as possible and how can they be involved in the elicitation process? Stakeholders are the prime source of requirements; requirements can also be found in documents and in other systems. The concept of personas is explained as a way of dealing with different target groups amongst users.

Elicitation Techniques: The candidate will learn a variety of alternative techniques of the categories gathering techniques, design and ideagenerating techniques and thinking tools. Identifying attributes of elicitation techniques are introduced as a means to decide what techniques are suited best in a certain situation.

Conflict Resolution: A professional performing Requirements Engineering should possess adequate skills in the field of conflict resolution, like recognizing which types of conflict may arise in Requirements Engineering and how these can be identified and resolved. The aim of consolidation is to end up with a set of requirements, that is agreed among the stakeholders and can be realized in a certain system.

Personal Skills & Development: This module is completed by elaborating on the aspect of personal skills and development. The required skills in the area of elicitation are discussed. As communication is one of the key skills in elicitation, different communication models are introduced.
