Participants will learn the functions of components like the HLR, MSC/VLR, BSC/RNC, BTS/Node B, PDSN/FA, Home Agent, AAA, BSSM/OMC, and the operational characteristics of services like SMS, MMS, CAMEL/WIN, VPN, e-mail, and others. The course continues with an exploration of VoIP and IMS technologies and their associated applications, as well as the popular ancillary wireless personal access and local area technologies: 802.15 WPANs, Bluetooth, and 802.11 WLANs.
