Course Overview

This course is designed to introduce business professionals, the WebSphere Commerce catalog types, and the skills they need to manage their store catalogs, and core features of the Catalogs tool of Management Center that is provided by IBM WebSphere Commerce V7 Feature Pack 7.

The skills that are developed in this course enable WebSphere Commerce business users to create, and manage different store-specific business objects such as catalogs, categories, subcategories, and catalog entries with the use of Catalogs tool of the Management Center. The course also explains versions in the Catalogs tool.

The course begins with an overview of the catalogs. It introduces the students to WebSphere Commerce catalogs, supported by a scenario, and possible objectives for using the catalogs, and different catalog management tasks of business users such as catalog managers, product managers, and category managers. It also provides a brief description of other Management Center tools associated with catalogs. Subsequent units cover the catalog management terminology that includes catalog hierarchy, category types, versions and many more, and how to create and manage catalogs, categories, catalog entry types such as products, and SKUs by using the Catalogs tool. They also describe version management tasks that can be performed with the use of Catalogs tool.
