DCUCD - Designing Cisco Data Center Unified Computing v5.0

Using UCS Manager v2.2, learn to choose and design scalable, reliable, and intelligent data center unified computing and virtualization solutions.

GK# 5559

Course Overview

In this course, you will learn how to choose and design scalable, reliable, and intelligent data center unified computing and virtualization solutions. These solutions are based on the Cisco data center product portfolio with a Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) as a centerpiece integrated with contemporary server virtualization solutions, such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V R2, and Citrix for Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure [VXI], and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows and Linux. You'll also learn how to evaluate existing data center computing solutions, determine the requirements, and design Cisco data center unified computing and virtualization solutions.

In this newly updated course with heavy focus on systems solutions, design, and product placement, you will walk through Cisco's UCS B-Series and UCS C-Series components, paying special attention to the individual and updated components of a complete solution and how to position a Cisco UCS design in various types of environments. Hands-on configuration labs using UCS Manager v2.2(1d) and scenario-driven case studies reinforce the information you'll cover.

What You'll Learn

  • Evaluate the data center solution design and design process in regards to contemporary data center challenges, data center solution architecture, and components
  • Assess the requirements and performance characteristics of the data center computing solution
  • Updated hardware components available in Cisco UCS designs and how to select the proper hardware
  • Employ design steps to design for the Cisco UCS solution for given data center requirements
  • Propose a solution management design for a given environment
  • Evaluate and design Cisco UCS solution for LAN, SAN, and Virtual Access layer connectivity
  • Recognize and design Cisco UCS server deployments
  • Identify a Cisco UCS solution for Unified Communications and a Hadoop distributed computing application with specific UCS components to fit their application needs
  • Configure Cisco UCS B-Series blade servers with Cisco UCS Manager v2.0
  • Configure Cisco UCS C-Series blade servers with Cisco
  • Integrated Management Controller (IMC) Implement service profiles and blade configuration for Microsoft Hyper-V 2008 and 2012, VMware ESXi v4.1, v5.0, 5.1 and v5.5
  • Configure Cisco UCS v2.2(1d) Manager and vSphere integration for pass-thru switching (PTS)
