Global Knowledge Employee Awarded Educator of the Year by the Federal Information Systems Security Educators' Association

Cary, N.C. - March 31, 2009 - Global Knowledge, the worldwide leader in IT and Business training, today announced that one of its employees has received the prestigious Educator of the Year award from the Federal Information Systems Security Educators' Association (FISSEA).

Each year FISSEA recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions in education and training programs for information systems security. This year's award was presented to Luke Andersen, Director, Federal Programs and Solutions at Global Knowledge for the development and deployment of innovative enterprise training solutions that help worldwide customers in the Federal government sector achieve their mission objectives.

Andersen and the team led the work required to develop a custom training solution that helps customers meet compliancy requirements set by the Department of Defense (DoD Directive 8570.1). The DoD Directive requires all individuals possessing privileged access to DoD Information Systems to be skilled and certified in the secure operation of computer systems used throughout the Global Information Grid.

The blended-learning solution offered by Global Knowledge includes hands-on training delivered by CompTIA-certified instructors, program management, and certification tracking and reporting. The solution includes live mentoring, study guides, and practice exams-tools that have proven to significantly improve the rate at which students obtain the critical mass of knowledge required to better prepare for and pass certification exams.

"We offer our congratulations and thanks to Luke and his team for working tirelessly to manage custom training programs for the Air Force, Army, Army Europe, Navy, and the DoD in the last year alone," said Kevin Rogers, VP Government Sales. "We've trained more than 20,000 military personnel in 110 countries and have helped well over 3,500 personnel achieve DoD Directive 8570.1 compliancy training and certifications just last year," he added.

Nominees may be involved in any aspect of information systems security awareness, education, or training, including, but not limited to, instructors, security program managers, and practitioners who further education and training programs for information systems security in the public, private, or federal community, according to FISSEA award regulations.

"It is such an honor to receive this award on behalf of Global Knowledge and our entire team of training professionals," said Andersen, "in part because every federal agency is represented within FISSEA. You just can't get a better endorsement than that."

Andersen, who served as an intelligence officer in the US Army, accepted the award last week at the 22nd annual FISSEA conference in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
